Lesson 3
Before You Build: Writing and Stress-Testing a Hypothesis
Help me write a proper hypothesis. WHAT I WANT TO CHANGE: [description]. WHAT MADE ME
THINK OF THIS: [evidence, honestly, including if it's a hunch]. CURRENT PERFORMANCE:
[metric and value]. WHO I'D TEST ON: [users]. Write it as BECAUSE [evidence] WE BELIEVE
[change] WILL CAUSE [metric to move by amount] FOR [users]. Then: challenge my evidence,
is the BECAUSE supported or a dressed-up preference? Is my expected effect realistic?
Draft a decision table for every plausible outcome including flat and negative. And name
one alternative explanation for my evidence that I might have missed.
