Claude for Product Managers
Lesson 3
Three Things Claude Is Excellent At (For PMs)
1. Turning your rough thinking into structured documents You have notes, half-formed ideas, and context in your head. Claude converts that into a PRD draft, a user story set, an exec update. First drafts that used to take two hours take twenty minutes.
2. Synthesizing large amounts of input into organized insight Ten interview transcripts → five themes → three product implications. Claude handles the organizational work. You supply the judgment about what matters.
3. Pressure-testing your thinking "What am I missing?" "What would an engineer push back on?" "What are the weakest assumptions in this strategy?" Claude as a devil's advocate is one of its most underused functions.
Three things to be careful about:
- Specific facts and numbers: Claude can hallucinate statistics. Never cite a Claude-generated number without verifying it.
- Current competitive landscape: Claude's training has a cutoff. Your market today may be different.
- Org-specific judgment: Claude doesn't know your stakeholders, your team's dynamics, or your company's political landscape. Don't ask it to make calls that require that knowledge.
