This is a reference guide for students aspiring to get into Product Management roles. It can also benefit those who are already in the role and are looking to refine their Resume / CVs in accordance with the evolving industry trends.
Look at your CV - Does it meet the below 5P criteria?
1. Painless
- Your resume should be easy to read, in Times New Roman or Aerial font with 10-12 font size.
- Use bold for emphasis with consistent font type, indent 2-3 levels maximum not more than.
- Use the chronology order where your most recent experience is at the top.
2. Perfect
- Proofread for spelling and grammar ask someone from the family to read it for you.
- Ensure consistent punctuation with judicious use of commas and AND.
- Do NOT use personal pronouns like me, my, I, you, he, she, it, we, they, them, us, and him.
3. Page and Sentence Length
- One or two pages is best do not go beyond 2 pages. Leave 1", .75 or .5 margins on all sides.
- Any sentence should not be more than 8-10 words longer.
- Do not use tech or industry specific jargons. Avoid also using abbreviations unless common knowledge like NPS, CSAT etc
4. Position and 5. Paper
- Resume paper with dark color print. If mailed, do not fold - use a large envelope.
- In personal interview also do not fold the paper; it looks unprofessional.
- Specific to the position you are applying for, use keywords from the job description. More on this below.
