Notion AI for Building Product Portfolios
Setting Up Your Portfolio in Notion
Now that you know what you want to show, it’s time to design where and how you show it.
This module is about structure, clarity, and flow, not aesthetics.
A well-structured portfolio makes good thinking easy to see. A poor structure hides it.
Portfolio Workspace Structure
Think of your portfolio like a product.
It needs:
- A clear entry point
- Logical navigation
- Minimal friction for the reader
Your Notion portfolio should have:
- One main portfolio page
- Clear links to individual case studies
- Supporting pages only where necessary
Avoid building a complex wiki.
Hiring managers will not explore deeply; they skim first, then read.
Page Hierarchy for Clarity and Flow
A simple hierarchy works best:
Portfolio Home
- About / Context
- Case Studies
- Optional: Resume or Links
Each case study should live on its own page and be reachable within one click.
If something takes effort to find, it will likely be skipped.
Navigation and Readability Principles
Recruiters read quickly.
Design for:
- Short sections
- Clear headings
Obvious progression from problem → decision → outcome
Avoid:
- Long unbroken paragraphs
- Excessive toggles
- Hidden critical information
Your writing should guide the reader without forcing effort.
Making Your Portfolio Recruiter-Friendly
A recruiter-friendly portfolio:
- Loads fast
- Works without explanation
- Does not require instructions
Assume:
- The reader has 3–5 minutes initially
- They will only continue if value is clear early
Your first screen matters more than the last.
Checkpoint: First-Click Experience
Ask yourself:
What does someone understand in 30 seconds?
Is it obvious what I worked on?
Is it easy to choose a case study?
If not, simplify.
Exercise: Define Your Portfolio Home
Write:
- A short opening statement explaining who you are as a PM
- A one-line description for each case study
Focus on clarity, not cleverness.
Try This in Notion
Create a new page titled:
“Portfolio Home”
Inside it:
- Add a short introduction (3–4 lines)
- Add links to your shortlisted case studies
- Keep formatting minimal
